Sheyi & Simon

Sheyi and Simon got married in August at Hampton Court House in London, with a gorgeous blue and gold Ghanaian, Nigerian and British fused ceremony.

They met at a house party on the August Bank Holiday weekend, in between Notting Hill Carnival and dated for two years before saying “I do”.

“Simon had been to carnival on the Sunday, and I was going the next day on the Monday. Our favourite thing to do together is basically anything to do with food. We are obsessed! Restaurants, fancy or just normal, eating in, dinner parties, family Sunday lunches…”

The best thing about the wedding is definitely being surrounded by all the people we love the most in the world. We’re so glad we invested in the memories. Our one tip we would give other couples is to spend money on the photographers and the videographers because these are the things that will become precious to you after the wedding. Also make sure you have at least one evening a week where you have no wedding chat at all, to maintain your sanity!

For our honeymoon we went to Sri Lanka and then the Maldives. Sri Lanka was amazing, and the wildlife was more varied and more spectacular than we could have imagined. The Maldives was just beautiful and a wonderful place to relax. We can’t wait to go back again!

We were always planning on having a gift list of some sort. We love that we could mix honeymoon contributions and gifts. Our guests found this really easy to use, and it felt like they had all contributed to making our honeymoon great.

We loved our Prezola delivery day. It was really lovely to receive all of the presents wrapped up and with notes. I felt it was a really special touch, and like a bonanza birthday gift opening!
