Hema & Ajai

After meeting for the first time with the eyes of the nation on them, Hema and Ajai's love story started on the Channel 4 show First Dates. 3 and a half years later they had the most beautiful wedding day in gorgeous Mallorca surrounded by family and friends. Full of vibrant colours, special personal touches and delectable food, every last detail of their day was just perfect.

How did you two meet?
We met on a channel 4 TV show called First Dates. It was a real blind date, not knowing a single thing about each other including names! The date lasted all the way to the restaurant closing with a lot of laughs!

What's your favourite thing to do together?
Our favourite things to do together is having dinner dates and cooking. We can all get tied up with the everyday work routine and never really get to spend quality time with that special someone. Dinner dates for us bring back memories of our first date and give back that time together without any distractions.

What was the best thing about the wedding?
Having all our friends our family together at one big party! We're so grateful to everyone who was able to and made the effort to come out to Mallorca, especially those who travelled from outside the UK.

What tip would you give other couples planning their wedding?
Try to stay calm! There can be a lot of hiccups and dramas along the way, but always remember why you are having this big day.

Tell us all about your honeymoon!
We haven't had our honeymoon yet, but we had a minimoon straight after the wedding in Mallorca. Saying goodbye to all our friends and family was so emotional, a lot of tears were shed! We stayed in the west of the island at a beautiful hotel called Gran Hotel Son Net. Although it was sad saying bye to our family, it was so nice to have a moment to ourselves and enjoy this peaceful time together. We treated ourselves to a relaxing massage within a few hours of getting there. The next few days were about relaxing day trips, eating and enjoying each others company. We are planning to have our honeymoon next year in Thailand.

What has surprised you most about being married?
How happy we are and reminding ourselves that we are husband and wife, which all seems very grown up!

One thing we did before we got married and I'm glad we still do now is…
Wake up and go to sleep with a long cuddle.

Were you always planning to have a gift list?
As we don’t have our own house yet, we didn’t want to have gifts for the home so it was great that Prezola offered cash gifts towards our honeymoon.

What's your favourite gift list feature on Prezola?
The honeymoon contributions that can be transferred straight to your bank account.

Is there a gift you wish you had added to your gift list but didn't?
The art deco drinks trolley!
