With a beautiful backdrop and stunning sunset, Alice and Matt's magical Mediterranean wedding was totally dreamy. Find out all about their party under the stars and their Prezola delivery.
How did you two meet?
Matt and I first met at one of his house parties while we were at school. In Matt's words I 'barged in and insisted on taking-over the vodka jelly-making' until we realised it was never going to set in time and that Matt should just drink it all himself! Needless to say Matt's night didn't end well but whether it was my expert jelly-making, or just the vodka, love blossomed and we enjoyed a short romance before going our separate ways. It wasn't until four years later in 2010, when we were both home from University, that we rekindled our romance and have enjoyed nine happy years together ever since.
How would you describe your couple personality?
We're both very laid-back and love spending time outdoors which is why we were so drawn to the idea of a Mediterranean wedding. Enjoying incredible food and drinking delicious cocktails under the stars with our favourite people was perfect for us.
What's your favourite thing to do together?
Aside from enjoying long walks with our two whippets, usually followed by lunch in the pub and a bottle of red (or two), we love to go and see live music so we made sure that all of our favourite bands featured in our day. Julie & Pep Toni, an acoustic duo, played the most perfect renditions of songs special to us during the ceremony, and the party under the night sky was unforgettable: we chose a three-piece band from Mexico that played a great mix of funk and soul so the dance floor was never empty.
What was the best thing about your wedding day?
We will never forget walking through the fields at sunset after our golden hour photographs, looking on at all of our favourite people having the time of their lives in our favourite place in the world - it was truly magical.
Did you encounter any hiccups with the planning or the day itself?
Having a wedding planner was the best decision we ever made so we were very fortunate to have an expert on-hand to mitigate any potential hiccups for us. Mille Papillons made everything so easy and enjoyable and the day was totally stress-free because Judith and Marina coordinated every moment to perfection.
What one piece of advice would you give couples planning their wedding?
It's really easy to become obsessed with pleasing everyone else and forgetting that the day is really about your love for one another; we wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to make their way to Mallorca to share our special day which meant lots of time was spent curating our wedding website. It's important to remember that those who want to be there, and are able to be, will do anything to spend the day with you, regardless of all the work you put in to make it simpler for them.
Tell us about your honeymoon. Where did you go and what did you love about it?
We spent a week after the wedding unwinding in a gorgeous boutique hotel in Mallorca. Our official honeymoon is yet to come: we are spending ten days over Christmas and New Year skiing in Zermatt and can't wait to celebrate the festive period as a couple in the most beautiful setting.
Were you always planning on having a wedding gift list?
At first, we were uncertain whether or not to have a gift list since our guests were making the trip to Mallorca for the wedding. We had also been living together for six years so already had a home filled with lovely things. However, many of our family wanted to purchase something special for us so we decided to compile a list of gifts for our home, as well as contributions towards our honeymoon which seemed the perfect solution.
What was your favourite feature on Prezola?
We loved the flexibility of Prezola and the huge range of gifts available for us to choose from.
Did you discover any new brands when building your list?
There were so many brands to pick from and many that we'd never heard of before, but the gifts we chose were from brands we'd loved for years which was why Prezola appealed to us over other gift list providers.
How did you go about choosing gifts for your list?
We wanted to select a range of gifts at varying price points so the honeymoon contribution options were ideal. It was also important to us to include some special items that would last us a long time such as a good quality pan set and a new dinner set from The White Company.
Did you use one of our personal shoppers?
We didn't use this option but only because we had a good idea of what we wanted already.
What did your guests think about Prezola?
Our guests loved the ease of Prezola and it was great for them to be able to add a personal message to the items they bought.
Tell us about your Prezola delivery day
Our very exciting delivery arrived on a Monday morning so we were both super excited to get home after work and unwrap all of our lovely new things together.
How would you describe your interior style?
Our home is a palette of soft greys and whites, warmed up with soft lighting and plenty of cosy blankets and candles.
Is there a gift you didn't add to your list that you wish you had?
No, we're really happy with the gifts we selected.
